I created this image as a postcard. Hopefully, no intrepid postal person will take offense.

This fragment is part of one of my Christmas card designs.

creativity

The muse has been hovering this week and I have been creating paperdolls and labels for quilters and scrappers. i notice that some of the wide awakes go around to antiqueshops and scan ephemera and presumably copyright it as their own. Although it was done buy someone else (who probably didn't get paid more than $5.00 for it at the time). Then they publish them in collections and sell them. I don't know how I feel about this. I suppose as long as credit is given to the artist - and the artist is dead and the artist's last spawn and their spawn are dead, then i guess I'm alright with it.

Achmadenijad

Zounds - I just heard that achmedinijad (apol0gies to he of that difficult name to spell and pronounce). Has a blog - just as I was dipping a toe in the blog-0-sphere. It's all over now. Gone are the days when art and literature had a place at the cosmic table. Now all will be swept aside as bloggyloos have their heads filled with insights re: America, the great Satan as perceived by the man from Iran.

having lived abroad for two years, i was well aware America was the great Satan. Being in a painting group with two Dutch women, that point was repeatedly brought home to one. I was circumspect. Even when a French member of the group wee-weed her agreement. The two Dutch ladies were fond of harkening back to Rembrandt and the implied affect was that his blood flowed in their veins and blessed their brushes with his divine guidance. I will refrain from expressing my opinion on their work. They were happy with it.

not sure where I fit in

I've been worried about where I fit in re: the art world. My work is more illustration than "fine art". Yet the thought of working to a client's specification is absolutely daunting. So i am just trying a few things out on ebay - I do a lot of juvenile subject matter but then when I say visit my website i have mild adult content as well. Which apparently shivers the timbers of those who publish children's illustration or host websites for children's illustrators.

I suppose it best to please yourself - because that way your enthusiastic about what you do and it shows.
